Aboriginal Art

For my city's annual Cultural Festival, approaching this May, I have been asked to make and demo Australian Aboriginal artwork. I am so excited about this task- plus, it pays pretty well. So today, I'm heading over to the craft store to pick up a load of supplies and hopefully I'll have some work posted on the blog before I leave for Cancun.

Here's an example of the beautiful, earthy art form:

After a week of non-stop papers due and tests to take at school, I'm thrilled to do a project that will actually inspire me. I love art, but sometimes I just feel like it's always pushed aside to make room for all of my AP classes. However, I am in a Drawing/Painting class for one hour/day and it does wonders for my stress levels.

fleurs

I'm loving this sketchbook. Plus... i want my name to be changed to "Fleur" (flower in French for those that don't know.) When I was in French class, that was my "French name" that we got to choose. I even liked it so much I had it printed on the back of one of my hoodies where one's real last name usually goes.

silly scatterplot

I'm currently in statistics class, so all we do (when I'm not doodling in my notes..) is draw scatterplots. This one is much more amusing than the ones we're subjected to.

Book by its Cover

I adore flipping through artist's sketchbooks and, on this site- Book by Its Cover, you can do just that with many talented artist's sketches photographed and displayed online. I love it!

self-landscape art

Dutch artist, Levi van Veluw "landscapes" and then photographs himself. He doodles, and pastes different textures onto his face. Incredible, and yet a bit creepy.

unappreciated art: envelopes.

This collection of envelope security patterns made me smile.
Who knew how beautiful junk mail could be? I love the little imperfections the eye picks up on each one. I guess this fits perfectly with my obsession of paper mail.
